Eslam Ezzy in Chelyabinsk, Russia

Crazy?!!!
YEAH, that’s me.
Its my first opportunity to live in an extremely different
country and have a new experience.
Not just new experience with the weather!!! but with many things like
simply breaking the stereotypes about Russians.

It was the time for me to see the real friendly Russian people who can make anything for you to make you enjoy our time and live the experience you came for.

It was also my time to see the beauty of the ice, the beauty of the nature and the extreme cold and white colour all over the place mixed with the green colour of pine trees of the forest and the red colour of the cherries and flowers.

Not only this, but also the real beauty of Russians that a simple smile from Russian ladies “which were the majority in this country that sometimes its hard to find a male there” can make you forget the damn cold of this country and enjoy it.
If you ask the average Russian to name things associated with the Caucasus, the list would probably look something like this: mountains, snow, war, Dzhigit, hill people, Islam, cuisine, hospitality and vacation. This sequence is fairly accurate, but limited, for in the Caucasus, each of these elements is larger-than-life.

Valenki – Russian fashion?
Valenki is the only thing that can save you in -35C outside. So, it is a really traditional Russian winter footwear which take their roots from the 17th century. The name valenok literally means “made by felting”. Real valenki are made of wool felt, so when you buy it, be sure that it is made of real wool! Unfortunately, our ancestors were thinking mostly about protecting from cold russian winters, so valenki are not water-resistant. But when the spring comes and snow melts it is worn with galoshes to keep water out and protect the soles from wear and tear. Such an innovations!
Valenki were once the footwear of choice for many Russians, but in the second half of the 20th century they lost most of their appeal in cities, due to their association with rustic dress. Nowadays traditional simple grey or black valenki are worn in countryside, but designer one valenki came to fashion industry as well – and in big cities it is a kind of stylish fetish. (you can check some of them here). By the way Russian valenki are the prototype of nowadays popular and widely spread UGGI. As Russian proverb tells: «Everything new is old again».
Talking about the wearing – it is a kind of new experience because valenki are quite heavy and high (up to knee). After putting them you will need some time to get used and wearing it you will feel yourself like a an astronaut landed on the moon.
Cheburashka`s story
This one small and strange animal became a real small symbol of Russia. Cheburashka is a character from children`s book written by Eduard Uspenskiy. It is a strange tropical animal which looks like a bear but has giant ears and huge eyes. According to the story he was found in the box full of oranges in which he arrived to a big city. He is very friendly and loves everyone. His best friend is a green crocodile Gena who is a really busy guy working in a Zoo and reading newspapers.
But now Cheburashka is also very busy – he works as a Russian Olympic team mascot. You can also find him in toy or souvenir shops and also in Bosco sportswear shops. Actually the name of this animal Cheburashka came from a Russian verb cheburahnutsa (spoken Russian) which means to fall awkwardly (Cheburashka did it often because of his huge ears).
Nowadays Cheburashka has lots of fans all over the world (especially in Japan) because he became the first Russian pokemon. So, when you come to Russia try to find one small Cheburashka to take with you. I am sure that this pretty creature will remind you Russia – still unknown country but with great heart, big expectations and friendly people living there.
